“OMG” Best Golf Game 2025⛳️🏌️

Good Start But Improvement Needed
Sat Feb 08 2025 Bundyman

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of this game and am very happy to be have it on my Mac, iPad and iPhone to play whenever I want. Overall, the game graphics are really good but there are some aspects of the game play that are badly in need of tweaking and improvement. Here a a few things that I feel should be addressed in future updates: 1. Allow for specific club selection manually anywhere on the course. 2. Better detail on how much strength or power we use for each shot. Some kind of strength meter would be ideal to more precisely get the power needed to allow for the wind and elevation changes. 3. Elevation information of any kind so we can also adjust our power to meet the challenge. 4. Tournament play is good but having to earn coins is difficult and seems to be a leftover from the paid game and needs to be adjusted for the Apple Arcade version since it is a free game to play with our subscription. 5. Allow putting when near the green on the fringe. Fix these things and I would gladly give it five stars.

Easily the best golf game out there.

Great game, lots of potential

This game is a lot of fun! Some suggestions - 1. Allow us to putt from the fringe of the green, or change clubs from the rough. It’s too restrictive. 2. Different lengths of rough, watching a bouncing ball just die because it went 6 inches past the fairway is silly (unless the grass is actually that long but it should look like it then). 3. Putting is a bit of a joke, it’s way too easy at any skill level. 4. Show slopes on green, should be a grid overlay. 5. No one should be getting -29 in a single round rookie tournament, somethings broken or there’s cheating.

Honest review

It WAS a great game but as you progress higher it’s deflating at best. Every tournament you play at Pro 3 seems to be rigged, the players are more then likely bots as I can shoot my best round and I’ll still end up 100th overall with the leader shooting a 26 on 18 holes with only 2 par 5’s. I would say that the others that are that much better then everyone else but since your group is based on matching your skill level, the bar is almost impossible to keep. No interest anymore but was a great game for awhile.

Minor fixes needed.

You need to be able to play from the “out of bounds” areas. It’s so needlessly limiting and costs the player opportunities for fun circus shots. Camera angles also need to be adjusted for putting. It sucks the life out of putting when the camera angle forced focus ensures no matter the break / distance of the putt, they all visually look the same going in. Minimal changes would create for a much better game.

Best golf game I’ve played

As good as the top rated golf games as far as game play, but there is no ads and no cartoonish feel. I like that you don’t have to wait for the opponent to play in h2h. Keeps your aim technique a secret and makes gameplay way faster.

No Game Center???

PGA TOUR Campaign Mode

  • Overview: Added in the March 11, 2025, update, this mode features challenges on real PGA TOUR courses (e.g., Pebble Beach, TPC Sawgrass). You complete objectives like hitting fairways, making birdies, or scoring under par.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Start with Early Challenges: Early levels are forgiving, focusing on basic shots (e.g., drive 250+ yards, hit the green in regulation). Use max top spin for drives and center the arrow for straight shots.
    2. Progression: Each course has multiple challenges with increasing difficulty (e.g., avoiding hazards, making long putts). Complete challenges to earn coins, experience, and unlock new courses.
    3. Tips:
      • Study the pre-shot overview to plan your landing area. Use the “X” marker to aim precisely.
      • For bunker shots, pull back less and time the arrow carefully, as it moves faster.
      • Save coins for club upgrades in the Pro Shop to improve power and accuracy for tougher challenges.
    4. Later Stages: Advanced challenges require precise spin control (e.g., fading around trees) and wind management. Replay earlier levels to grind coins if you’re stuck.
  • Goal: Clear all challenges to unlock all courses and earn exclusive gear (e.g., rare bags or balls).

FedExCup Mode

  • Overview: Compete in tournaments to earn FedExCup points based on your placement. Higher placements yield more points, coins, and rewards.
  • Walkthrough:
    1. Enter Tournaments: From the main menu, select FedExCup Mode and choose a tournament (1, 3, 9, or 18 holes). Entry may require coins or a specific level.
    2. Scoring: Aim for birdies or better. Use max top spin on drives to maximize distance and set up short approach shots. For par 3s, focus on landing near the pin with minimal spin.
    3. Strategy:
      • Check wind before each shot and adjust aim/spin. For example, a tailwind allows less power; a crosswind requires draw/fade to counter.
      • Avoid hazards (bunkers, water) by aiming conservatively, especially in early rounds.
      • Upgrade clubs in the Pro Shop to boost performance. Prioritize driver and irons for distance and accuracy.
    4. Placement: Finish in the top tier (e.g., 1st–10th) for maximum points. Ties are common, so every stroke counts.
  • Goal: Accumulate FedExCup points to climb the leaderboard and unlock elite tournaments with better rewards.

    Head-to-Head Matches (Multiplayer)

    • Overview: Real-time matches against other players. You both play simultaneously, and the lowest score per hole wins coins and experience.
    • Walkthrough:
      1. Join a Match: Select Head-to-Head from the main menu. Matches cost coins to enter, with higher stakes offering bigger rewards.
      2. Gameplay:
        • Each hole is a race to score lower. Use the pre-shot view to plan aggressive shots (e.g., cutting corners with draw/fade) to gain an edge.
        • Timing is critical, as you can’t pause. Center the arrow for straight shots or apply spin to navigate obstacles.
        • Watch your opponent’s score (shown live) to adjust risk. If they bogey, play safe; if they birdie, go for a bold shot.
      3. Rewards: Wins grant coins and experience, but rewards dropped post-launch (e.g., from 300K to less). Focus on consistent wins to grind coins.
    • Tips:
      • Upgrade clubs to stay competitive, as opponents often have better gear.
      • Practice bunker and chip shots in Practice Mode, as these can decide close matches.
      • If you’re losing often, play lower-stake matches to build skill and coins.

      Daily/Multi-Day Tournaments

      • Overview: Limited-time events (1, 3, 9, or 18 holes) with leaderboards. Top placements earn exclusive gear and high coin payouts.
      • Walkthrough:
        1. Enter Tournaments: Check the main menu for active events. Some require coins or a minimum level to join.
        2. Scoring:
          • Play conservatively on tough courses (e.g., avoid water on TPC Sawgrass). Use the pre-shot view to plan safe landing zones.
          • Go for birdies on par 4s and 5s by maximizing drive distance (max top spin, full power) and setting up short approaches.
          • On par 3s, aim for the pin with minimal spin to avoid overshooting.
        3. Replays: You can replay tournaments to improve your score, but each attempt may cost coins. Save replays for when you’re close to a higher placement tier.
      • Tips:
          • Check leaderboards to gauge the score needed for top tiers. For example, top 10 may require -10 or better on 18 holes.
          • Use upgraded clubs and rare balls (if unlocked) for slight stat boosts.
          • Prioritize multi-day events for better rewards compared to daily ones.

        Pro Shop and Upgrades

        • Overview: Spend coins in the Pro Shop to upgrade clubs, buy balls, or get cosmetic items (e.g., bags, outfits).
        • Walkthrough:
          1. Prioritize Upgrades: Focus on driver and irons for power and accuracy. Upgrades significantly improve performance in all modes.
          2. Balls and Gear: Rare balls offer minor stat boosts (e.g., less wind effect). Save them for tournaments or tough campaign challenges.
          3. Coin Management: Pro Shop prices increased post-launch (e.g., bags up 50%), so grind coins in Campaign Mode or low-stake Head-to-Head matches before spending.
        • Note: Some players report glitches where upgraded rare clubs don’t show in tournaments. Report these via Settings > Support.

          Advanced Tips for Progression

          • Master Spin: Practice draw/fade in Practice Mode to curve shots around trees or doglegs. For example, a draw with tailwind can add 20+ yards to drives.
          • Wind Adjustment: Estimate wind impact (e.g., 10 mph crosswind may need 10–15 yards of aim adjustment). Use spin to counter or exploit wind.
          • Putting: The game simplifies putting, but aim slightly uphill for long putts and adjust for green slopes shown in the pre-shot view.
          • Grinding: Replay Campaign Mode challenges or play low-stake Head-to-Head matches to farm coins for upgrades.
          • Community Resources: Check r/AppleArcade or Apple Community for course-specific tips (e.g., hole strategies for Pebble Beach).

            Questions And Answers

Here are some possible questions and answers that you might find useful

            1. Q:How does pulling the ball back affect shot distance?

A:Players are unsure about the difference between pulling the ball to the center of the circle versus pulling it all the way back until it shakes and the meter swings faster.

            2. Q:Can you change clubs during a round?

A:Currently, PGA TOUR Pro Golf does not allow manual club selection during a round. The game automatically chooses the club based on the shot distance and situation, which simplifies gameplay but frustrates players looking for more control.

            3. Q:How does aiming work, and why does it feel inverted?

A:The aiming is intentionally inverted to simulate real golf mechanics. Dragging the ball to the right causes it to start left and curve back right (draw), and dragging to the left starts it right and curves left (fade). This mimics how spin affects ball flight in real golf. Use this to your advantage to curve shots around obstacles like trees or to gain extra distance by leveraging wind. For example, aligning a draw or fade with the wind direction can increase roll distance. To hit a straight shot, release the ball when the directional arrow is centered. For precise aiming, use the pre-shot “X” marker to set your target landing area.

            4. Q:How do I judge distance for approach shots or chip/bunker shots?

A:The game doesn’t provide explicit distance markers like some older golf games (e.g., Tiger Woods PGA Tour). Instead, you need to rely on trial and error and the pre-shot overview. Use the “X” marker in the pre-swing view to aim where you want the ball to land, accounting for wind, draw, fade, and power. For approach shots, apply max top spin to add roll distance, which helps cover more ground after landing. This is especially useful for drives and long approach shots. In bunkers, the directional arrow moves faster, making timing critical. Pull back less for shorter shots and practice timing the arrow to keep shots straight. Be patient, as bunker shots can lead to instant losses if mistimed. Wind affects shots significantly. Adjust your aim based on the wind direction and speed shown on-screen, curving the ball (draw/fade) to counter or use the wind for extra distance.
