Update from my last review, an hour ago…
Wed Mar 16 2022 SillicacherOkay, I was very disappointed when I updated my iPad and found that one of my iPads had the new version of this game and the other had the old version. I loved the old version very much. (Hence my scathing last review…..sorry🥺)
I was loving this game, and again have fallen back in love with it now….sigh….again sorry….
Lesson learned today……don’t review an app when you are feeling frustrated and set in your ways. Play a bit and see what happens, it might not be so bad.
I highly recommend this game to anyone who loves words and the independence of placing said words where you want. Just be sure you check to be sure it is the best place for said word. Game takes some practice and finding the secret to success and getting more words will make sense and yiu will go…..duh….
I hate crossword puzzles but I love these fillin word games. I have played another very popular word game for 12 plus years and still do. However I LOVE at his game better than that other VERY popular game.

Sat Sep 04 2021 mira karlovetzHonestly wurdweb is one of the few word games that have been downloaded to my phone and got to stay. Normally I find them repetitive or too inflexible to enjoy all the time. All of the different modes, themes and variations make it easy to adapt to whatever mood I’m feeling and I really like the challenges to unlock new things.
This would be a five star review, if I hadn’t had a glitch in my game the past two or so days. Like I said I really like the challenges, but for the past few days one has been stuck as uncleared despite the fact I’ve met the requirements a few times over- it’s the “Play Puzzles At Night” challenge, and it won’t show any progress on it despite the fact I’ve played well over 3 games in between the hours of 10 and 6 since it showed up in game. I’ve played several different modes several different points during the night (just in case it was a time zone issue and playing it at 10 was messing it up somehow). I don’t know if this is an issue for anyone else but I thought it was worth writing a review about in case other people experience stuck challenges.
Great game but an annoying bug
Sat Nov 27 2021 thequeenmcI love the game and play it pretty often, but the only issue I'm having aside from the iCloud message about it not syncing is that whenever I try to do the daily/weekly/monthly challenge, or really any mode that has a lot of words to choose from, it doesn't let me scroll down. I'll start scrolling down the list and it'll pop back up to the top so it's impossible to pick any of the other longer words aside from the 4-5 i can see at the top of the list. It makes it pretty much impossible to finish the game after a certain point because I can't choose any other words because I can't get to them. I've tried basically everything but uninstalling and reinstalling the app because since it's not syncing, i'll lose all my progress. I would love it if this could be fixed because with this bug I can't finish any of the challenges.
Enjoyable and different word game
Mon Aug 23 2021 Brick NeckonI am enjoying the game quite a bit! The daily puzzle is pretty involved and you can spend quite a bit of time on it.
I do dislike that challenges to unlock additional modes/variations are gated by real time. As of right now I don’t find the current modes ( Tangle, precision) super enjoyable, at least without progression + challenges (since the challenges encourage specific actions in play). I like them in concept but they seem too easy. I’m hoping that the difficulty variations would make them more interesting, but I’m unable to unlock them since I have to wait real time for more challenges.
I saw a dev response on another review that they are looking in to overhauling the challenge system. I really hope so!
Also I haven’t unlocked the advanced difficulty varieties yet, so I can’t speak coincidently but I’m wondering if it might make more sense to have difficultly separate from variations. Or maybe allow more than one variation at a time. It would certainly allow for a greater variety in the puzzles.
Fun Game But Flaws
Sat Sep 04 2021 FloweryFlowersI love word puzzles. This game is addictive and a lot of fun but infuriating all the same. Please fix the following issues.
1. It would be nice if we could lock a word in vertical or horizontal position. A simple button that sets the word so it is easier to place in the puzzle. The words constantly flip back and forth and words are extremely hard to place.
2. Also if there is a challenge where we have to do certain puzzle types within a time limit if 2 minutes. But there isn’t a time clock on the screen so we can see our progress. I feel like I’ve accomplished this goal and continue to be denied. I’d like to see a time clock.
3. More words please. It’s getting redundant.
I’m quitting the game in hopes that the bugs are fixed. Considering this is a subscription game it really should work better than this.
Isn’t this Sling Words?
Sun Sep 19 2021 DyreLoganI used to play one of my favorite games many years ago, Sling Words, which this game seems to emulate. Except with Sling Words you can build other words using letters from available words. For instance, you have a word, Beginning and you have another word, Suspects. You can place the beginning of the word Suspects, or the end and build another word Beginnings. With this game, it doesn’t recognize that. So it loses stars for not being as good as Sling Words, which I feel is far superior and a little more fun. I like this one, but the developer really needs to fix the game and allow you to build on other words like practically ANY other Scrabble/Crossword like word game. This one is a good start, but once they add that and some other elements then this will be a great game.
A great game, but…
Thu Feb 17 2022 AmsterdamJenA few things need to be done, especially by now. I’ve been playing this game since it launched on Apple Arcade, and not much has changed. I’ve finished all of the challenges, a notice states this, and basically suggests to replay different themes and variations. I no longer do this. I play for the weekly and monthly competition, and sometimes the daily. The major thing I’ve noticed that needs to be addressed is more words added to the “wurdweb dictionary”, for lack of a better term. Each time I play a challenge wether it daily, weekly, or monthly, the exact same words are offered in the selection, and I swear if I see the word “biopic” (and others) one more time, I’m going to puke. Please, there are so many words in the dictionary. Let us use them.

Fri Aug 20 2021 squirrelboiiiThis game is awesome and fun especially if you like word games. Simple concepts but hard to master. My one issue with the game is the challenges that you get daily. At most I’ve had 5 challenges. At the least I’ve had 3 and challenges are the only way to unlock new game modes and such. I think there should be more challenges to play on a daily basis or something that will make me want to ply after I’ve completed my daily challenges. Because I’m finding that after I do my daily challenges there’s nothing pushing me to play. Just a small suggestion. Love everything else about the game though
Addictive…in a good way
Fri Mar 18 2022 TerranceDCI’m a big fan of word games. I downloaded this one out of curiosity and it hit my sweet spot right away. I started playing last night and when I looked up two hours had passed. I just kept going through one challenge after another until I finally forced myself to go to bed.
What I like about this game is it’s got just the right mix of being challenging without being impossible. The different modes of play offer seemingly endless variety. If I hit a wall in one mode, I could simple play in another one or create my own game.
It’s an addictive game, in the best sense of the word.
Tutorial

I downloaded the game about five minutes ago. I was loving it, breezed through the tutorial and then got the challenge to play tangled mode. Beat tangled mode and it gave me a little “congrats, you can receive a reward” notification at the bottom. Then it says I haven’t completed it. I go to click tangled mode again, it doesn’t let me. Says I have a challenge to play tangled mode. I can’t get past the menu anymore. I’ve closed out and gone back in and everything.
